1. Isidingo Se-Chemical Oxygen (COD)

2.Isidingo se-Oxygen ye-Biochemical (BOD)

3. Ukuxhumana kanye Nezicelo Ezisebenzayo

1) Ukuhlola i-biodegradability:

· BOD/COD > 0.3: Ibonisa ukubola okuhle kwe-biodegradability, iphakamisa ukuthi ukwelashwa kwebhayoloji kufanelekile.
· I-BOD/COD < 0.3: Ibonisa ingxenye ephezulu yezinto eziphilayo eziphikisayo kanye nokubola kwe-biodegradability okubi. Ezimweni ezinjalo, izindlela zokwelapha ngaphambi kwesikhathi (isb., i-oxidation ethuthukisiwe noma i-coagulation sedimentation) ingase idingeke ukuze kuthuthukiswe ukubola kwe-biodegradability, noma ezinye izindlela zokwelapha ngamakhemikhali angadingeka.
2) Izimo zohlelo lokusebenza:
I-BOD: Isetshenziselwa kakhulu ukuhlola umthelela wemvelo wokuchitheka kwamanzi angcolile emanzini emvelo, ikakhulukazi mayelana nokuncipha komoyampilo kanye namandla awo okubangela ukufa kwezilwane zasemanzini.
· I-COD: Isetshenziselwa kakhulu ukuqapha ngokushesha imithwalo yokungcoliswa kwamanzi angcolile ezimbonini, ikakhulukazi lapho amanzi angcolile equkethe izinto ezinobuthi noma ezingaboli. Ngenxa yekhono layo lokulinganisa ngokushesha, i-COD ivame ukuqashwa ukuze kuqashwe ngesikhathi sangempela kanye nokulawulwa kwenqubo kumasistimu okuhlanza amanzi angcolile.

I-COD ne-BOD yizinkomba ezihambisanayo zokuhlola ukungcoliswa kwemvelo emanzini kunezinyathelo ezilinganayo. I-COD ingabhekwa "njengesidingo se-oksijini esiphezulu" sazo zonke izinto eziphilayo ezikhona, kuyilapho i-BOD ibonisa "amandla okusebenzisa umoya-mpilo wangempela" ngaphansi kwezimo zemvelo.
